Near Infrared Spectroscopy: A useful technique for inline monitoring of the enzyme catalyzed biosynthesis of third-generation biodiesel from waste cooking oil

چکیده

Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was used for inline monitoring the enzymatic production of third-generation biodiesel from waste cooking oil (WCO) —with fatty acid profile similar to olive oil— under principles Continued Process Verification (CPV) and Analytical Technology (PAT). For this purpose, covalently immobilized mature Rhizopus oryzae lipase (rROL) transesterify WCO with methanol ethanol, firstly in 10 mL vials orbital stirring then it successfully scaled up a mechanically stirred 50 laboratory reactor specially designed use NIR probe. Biocatalyst half-life productivity after ten reaction cycles ethanol were assessed. Slightly higher operational stability (337.5 h, 54 batches) vs (146.7 44 observed, but decreased as result increased times former (219 327 µmol min?1). The results highly correlated those gas chromatography (GC) reference. Thus, root mean-square standard error prediction (RMSEP) 2.0% 2.1% ethanol. Therefore, spectroscopy, which allows data acquisition real time, is suitable biodiesel.

A Two-step Catalytic Production of Biodiesel from Waste Cooking Oil

Waste cooking oil (WCO) was used as a potential feedstock for biodiesel production. High levels of free fatty acids (9.85% w/w) in WCO made it an undesirable substrate for direct transesterification reaction. To solve this issue, a two-step process was implemented in this research. Firstly, esterification reaction was performed in presence of sulfuric acid as a common acid catalyst to reduce th...

Efficient Synthesis of Biodiesel From Waste Cooking Oil Catalysed by Al2O3 Impregnated with NaOH

Due to the high price of virgin vegetable oils and the drawbacks of the homogeneous catalytic transesterification, in this work an economically profitable alternative process was proposed for biodiesel synthesis in which transesterification of the low-cost waste cooking oil (WCO) with methanol in a heterogeneous system was done. Alumina impregnated with sodium hydroxide was utilized as a solid ...
